I love my iPhone 4S. It can do so much. A lot which is actually scary.

Here are some of my favorite tips and tricks for the new iPhone 4S.

Siri Tricks

1. Nicknames

Did you know you can assign nicknames for people in you address book? Well, you can, and Siri is “Nickname aware”.

This is how you can say, “Call my mother” and she will dial your mom, even if you have her contact listed as her first and last name. Siri will ask you about the relationship the first time you say this, and will edit your personal contact with the association. You can also give people nicknames. Here, I add the nickname to the contact of “John Smith”.  Here are some screenshots of the process:

I go to John’s contact and tap “Edit”. I add a field, then choose a nickname.

We’ll call John “Morpheus”.

Now all you have to do is activate Siri and say, “Call Morpheus”. She proceeds to call John for you.

You can also give yourself a nickname. Here I said, “Call me Oh Masterful One”. She confirmed it, then I said “hello”. This is what she came back with…
